What is the difference between lip liner and lip pencil?
Lip liner can also known as lip pencil. In fact, there are four main types of lip liners: pencil lip liners, twist-up lip liners, gel lip liners and crayon lip liners.
How do you apply lip liner?
Before you apply your lip liner, we recommend you prep your lips first, this will ensure lips are not dry or crepey and lip liner goes on flawlessly.
1. Lips need to be free of dry, flaky skin so it’s a good idea to gently exfoliate this area. Exfoliating also stimulates circulation in your lips which can make them look more voluminous! Just be sure to gently remove any excess exfoliator with a face cloth.
2. Next you want to make sure your lips are well nourished. After applying your moisturiser all over your face, apply a really good lip cream to your lips. More often than not it is the lines around the lips which can actually be what’s making your lips look thin and aged. Top with a good lip balm and let it seep in for a few minutes.
3. The last part of the prep involves a concealer. Take a cream or liquid concealer in a shade lighter than your natural lip colour and smooth all over the lips spreading it a little over your natural lip line. You want to blur the edges so that it’s harder to tell where your lip line is.
Now it’s time to start your lip liner application. Begin at your cupid’s bow or the centre of your upper lip, and trace your top lip first. Continue to follow the natural lip line to the outer corners. After you line your upper lip, repeat on your bottom lip, working from the centre at the lip’s fullest point, to the corners.
